Blue Kite Studio
Blue Kite Studio is a collaborative, collective publishing initiative.
Within Blue Kite's Studio model, authors, illustrators, editors, and our administrative leadership work together in the process of publication from start to finish. As a collective publishing effort, all involved share the labor and, as a result, renumeration.

01
Project Curation
Either through an idea pitch or a formal query, authors can reach out to Blue Kite Publishing. Alternatively, Blue Kite's editorial team and leadership may reach out to writers with a project in mind.
02
Collective Development
Authors, editors, illustrators (if applicable), and Blue Kite work together in the development of the project. Whether we're building a collection, an anthology, or a novella, the risk and labor is distributed fairly across contributors.

03
Publishing
Upon the completion of the final draft, Blue Kite will formalize the writing into a book through our team of desktop publishers and designers. Blue Kite is responsible for the ISBN registry and establishment of a POD distribution infrastructure.
04
Promotion
Collectively, we bring your story to the world. Blue Kite will use it's platform leverage to advertise and promote the final product.

Here is how it could work:
Each project is unique. As such, the following serves as an example of how a new project contract could be drafted:
Project: A Collection of Children's Stories from Korea
Single Author, Single Illustrator, One Editor
Project Timeline: To be decided
Initial Investment: No financial investment, only time
Compensation: Profit-share 35% Author, 35% Illustrator*, 10% Editor, 20% Blue Kite Publishing [*illustration heavy work]
The 20% of Blue Kite's share reflects the administrative and platform infrastructure, as well as continued promotion of work.
